Gooseberry Parent

Gooseberry Parent allows the parent to see how their child is reacting within the game, the resource area is full of tips and advice for the carer to learn and be part of their child’s learning journey.

It also gives hints and tips about different aspects of Internet safety. Most parents’ biggest fears are their child being groomed or sexually exploited. 63% of 13-18 year olds have been asked for a sexual image. You can be part of your child’s learning journey, just ask your school to look at the Gooseberry School programme and as a parent you will have access to Gooseberry Parent free of charge. If your school isn’t part of the Gooseberry School programme you can login to Gooseberry Parent independently. Gooseberry Planet is using gaming technology to help children learn about internet safety. In the course of a familiar game, children are exposed to online issues requiring a response, such as: meeting strangers, bullying, grooming and sexual exploitation. Children love playing games and GP is a fun way to present internet safety situations to them. The software platform facilitates the participation of parents and teachers to discuss with their children/students the issues raised in the game and to monitor their reactions to the situations. Internet safety is now part of Personal, Social, Health Economic (PSHE) education in schools, but many schools ill-prepared to teach the subject. Gooseberry Plants can educate teachers, parents and young people.
